As part of its long-standing commitment to fight hunger and build stronger communities, Sodexo Indonesia held its annual Servathon 2025 event on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Yayasan Putri Kasih “Rumah Kerang”, Kali Baru, Cilincing. Themed “A Day of Giving Back”, this year’s event focused on meaningful acts of kindness that made a tangible impact on the lives of children, families, and elderly residents in an area facing economic and social challenges.

A Global Movement with Local Heart
SERVATHON is Sodexo’s flagship volunteer initiative held in more than 40 countries as part of the company’s global Stop Hunger campaign—an international movement founded in 1996 to eliminate hunger and malnutrition. Each year, Sodexo employees across the world unite their efforts during SERVATHON to create real and sustainable change in the communities they serve.

In Indonesia, this year’s SERVATHON was organized as a full-day program involving employee volunteers and residents of Kali Baru. The program was designed to deliver not only food aid but also educational support, emotional care, and encouragement to those often overlooked.

Supporting the Next Generation
The day began with the distribution of over 300 nutritious meal packages to students of Yayasan Putri Kasih “Rumah Kerang”, ranging from kindergarten to 6th grade. Each meal was carefully curated to meet children’s nutritional needs and promote healthy eating habits. The smiles and excitement from the children reflected the joy of being cared for and seen.

Reaching Families and the Elderly
Recognizing the broader needs of the surrounding community, Sodexo also prepared and distributed hundreds of essential grocery packages for underprivileged families and elderly residents. These packages included staples such as rice, cooking oil, canned protein, and hygiene products—essentials that many recipients rarely get in sufficient quantity.

The impact of this outreach was visible and heartfelt. For many elderly beneficiaries, this act of kindness was a lifeline, especially in areas where access to consistent food supplies remains a challenge.

Building Character Through Education
In addition to food aid, SERVATHON 2025 incorporated ethics education sessions tailored for students. The interactive sessions covered core values such as honesty, respect, empathy, and responsibility, encouraging children to become positive contributors to their families and communities.

At the same time, group discussions for parents and guardians were held to strengthen the role of families in character development and emotional well-being. Facilitated by trained volunteers, these sessions provided a safe space for sharing experiences and strategies to support children’s growth, particularly in low-income environments where access to resources is limited.

Collaboration in Action
The success of SERVATHON 2025 in Indonesia was the result of a collaborative spirit among Sodexo employees, local leaders, volunteers, and community members. Employees from various departments dedicated their time and energy to planning and executing the event, demonstrating Sodexo’s core values: Service Spirit, Team Spirit, and Spirit of Progress.

A Lasting Impact
As the day came to a close, the atmosphere was filled with warmth, gratitude, and renewed hope. Teachers expressed their appreciation for the support. Parents left feeling heard and empowered. And the children—our future—were reminded that they matter.

While SERVATHON is an annual event, its impact is designed to last. It reinforces Sodexo’s broader commitment to Better Tomorrow 2025, the company’s sustainability roadmap that prioritizes hunger relief, inclusion, and community development.

In a world where inequality continues to grow, initiatives like SERVATHON serve as a reminder that even small acts of kindness can create ripples of change. With every meal shared, every hand extended, and every conversation held, we move closer to a world without hunger—and a future built on empathy and action
